Meet & Greet

Every year around 1 million international students come to study in universities, colleges and language schools throughout the UK. Many students come from countries with limited access for missionaries, such as China, the Middle East and North Africa.

Friends International runs a Meet & Greet Scheme that takes place at Heathrow Airport in association with Heathrow Airport Chaplaincy to welcome international students coming to the UK from all over the world.

Our aim is to help international students find their way around the airport, obtain currency, purchase travel tickets and generally assist them on the next part of their journey.

Students are each given a copy of a booklet called "A Guide to life in the UK" which is published by Friends International and is designed to help them to adjust to the British way of life. There is also the opportunity to contact us for further details about meeting up with Christians who can care for them in the town or city where they will be studying.

The next Meet and Greet scheme will take place in September / October. Training is provided for volunteers. If you you would like to be involved or have questions please email us at info@friendsinternational.org.uk or call the Friends International Support Centre on 020 8780 3511.

Helping people in this way is not as daunting as it may sound, and you may be a link in a chain leading someone to the Lord Jesus!
